BISHOP JOHNNIE L. WOODS
Bishop Johnnie L. Woods, Jr. D.MIN. Is man of God with a sincere love for God’s people. He began his ministry on July 4, 1976. In 1982, the late Senior Bishop Jasper Roby first appointed Bishop Woods as pastor of the Wayfaring AOH Church of God in Gadsden AL. In June 1985, Bishop Roby appointed Bishop Woods as pastor of the Joyful Noise AOH Church of God in Sylacauga, AL. He has been the esteemed pastor of the Joyful Noise AOH Church of God for 34 years, as well as the Diocesan Bishop of the 28th District.
Bishop Woods evangelizes and travels consistently preaching the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry entails salvation as well as education. He graduated from the AOH Theological Seminary in 1989, and was recognized as Student of the Year in 1988. He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Bishop Woods earned his Bachelor of Biblical Studies from the Friends International University in 2003. Later in the year 2005, he was blessed to obtain a Doctorate of Ministry degree from the Friends International University. He has earned several certificates from the American Association of Christian Counselors with continued studies at Light University.
In March 2013, Bishop Woods was consecrated Bishop by the Board of Bishops of the A.O.H. Church of God, Inc. Bishop Woods is the Bishop over District 28. He serves as Director of the National Public Relations department, and Co-Chairman of the License Department of the A.O.H. Church of God, Inc. In 2018, Bishop Woods was selected to be the 2nd Assistant to the Presiding Bishop, Bishop Lawrence Williams of the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God.
Bishop Woods is not only an anointed man of God but also a devout family man. He and his wife, Elder Yolanda Woods, have been married over 48 years. His legacy of ministry has been passed on to his children, of which are a great asset to his ministry. Five of their children are anointed ministers of the gospel, along with a daughter in law and a son in law. He is a beloved grandfather to fourteen grandchildren.
Bishop Johnnie L. Woods, Jr. is a true shepherd who is a concerned watchman of his sheep, with compassion for the community and surrounding areas. Because of his faith and great vision, the Joyful Noise AOH Church of God has been blessed to build a beautiful new edifice of worship that is now debt free. His Bible fed and Spirit-led ministry is growing by leaps and bounds. We truly believe that there is no limit to what God can do! He often quotes the scripture “Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?” Acts 19:2
