BISHOP GREGORY CANNON

Gregory S. Cannon was born on January 18, 1963, in Leesville, South Carolina to Mr. Ollie and Elvira Cannon. He joined the Wonder Working Power A.O.H. Church and was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at the young age of 14 years old. At the age of 15 he began preaching the gospel. He served as a District Youth Worker and District Sunday School Worker from 1980 through 1998. In 1986, Bishop Cannon was appointed pastor of the Miracle Temple A.O.H. Church in Aiken, SC. In 1990, he was appointed pastor of the Harlem A.O.H. Church in Harlem, Georgia which under his leadership relocated to North Augusta, South Carolina where the name of the church was changed to Victory Temple A.0.H. Church and he continued to serve there until 2003.

Bishop Cannon served as Assistant Overseer for several years. Because of Bishop Cannon's faithfulness and dedication to the service of the Lord, God continued to elevate him. In 1998, he was appointed an Overseer in the A.O.H. Church of God, Inc. He served as Overseer of District 33, which included Montgomery, Alabama. Bishop Cannon was appointed Pastor of the Rice Temple A.O.H. Church by Bishop George W. Ayers, the National Presiding Bishop of the A.O.H. Church of God, Inc. Bishop and First Lady Cynthia Cannon came to pastor Rice Temple in 2003. They are the parents of one daughter, Crystal DeWalt, and the proud grandparents of two grandchildren, Iyana and Alana DeWalt.

He has a tremendous passion for God’s word coupled with a love for God’s people. He has a contagious spirit of generosity that flows through every facet of his ministry. He is a man of great vision, encouraging the saints to keep the faith. Seeking to embody the dream and vision that God has given him, he has begun to move toward the fulfillment of the dream and manifestation of the vision of the church. In August of 2003, we began an annual Back-to School Rally where over 400 underprivileged school children in our community were provided with school supplies needed for their education. In April 2004, we held our first Annual Women's Conference encouraging women to strive after God's own heart. 

In 2004, Bishop Cannon received his bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Friends International University. During the Annual Pentecost Meeting in June 2005, Bishop Cannon was selected as one of the candidates for Bishop. In June 2007, Bishop Cannon was elected and consecrated Bishop by the Board of Bishops and the voting body of the A.O.H. Church of God, Inc. Bishop Cannon currently serves as Director of Evangelism and Chairman of the License Department of the A.O.H. Church of God, Inc. In 2018, Bishop Cannon was selected to be the 1st Assistant Presiding Bishop of the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God.
