Later, his mother Elder Lucy LeGrand was called to Pastor. She was the founder of the LeGrand Temple A.O.H Church Of God in Alden, AL. He received the gift of the Holy Ghost there in Alden where he remained for 10 years as Assistant Pastor.

He married the love of his life Sister Bessie McLemore (First Lady Mo. Bessie Sanders). They have been married for 58 years and were blessed with 5 children of which 3 are preachers. They have also been blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is a graduate of A.H. Parker H.S. and a graduate of Booker T. Washington Business College. He also graduated from FICU University with a BBS Degree, MBS Degree and a DM Degree. He was the Director of the LeGrand Tabernacle Daycare and he was the founder for an outreach Ministry for Gadsden No.1 A.O.H Church of God; Glory House, an assisted living facility. He retired from the Southern Research Institute after 30 years of service.

Bishop Sanders was sent to Pastor the Corona Avenue A.O.H Church of God for 3 years in Jasper, AL. In 1976, he was sent to Pastor Gadsden No.1 A.O.H Church of God. Like Abraham, he was sent to a place he wasn’t familiar nor had he been there before, but he was obedient and went there to Pastor this church. After meeting with the saints he knew that it was the Lord’s doing and that it was marvelous in his sight. The saints showered him and his family with love. With a mind to work and with the help of the members there, he accomplished many things for the up building of God’s house. These things included stained windows, a kitchen, a dining room and bathroom; just to name a few. He has been the Pastor of Gadsden No.1 A.O.H Church of God for over 40 years. He served as the Assistant Overseer on District No.2 and later he was appointed Overseer by the late Bishop Jasper Roby where he served the 5th District for 15 years.

Bishop Sanders was consecrated as “Bishop,” in this great A.O.H body in March, 2013 and he is the District Bishop of District 33, 34 and 38. He loves his great church family and its Leaders and presently continues to be a servant for GOD.
